of a plethora pictures

What better way to describe the beauty of Thailand other than through pictures ey?

Pre-Thai (28th Sept 08) :

KL Sentral - before boarding the train

pretty comfy berths! and as opposed to what I read in forums,
no, there were NO baby roaches running around

15 hours away from destination: what you need is
1) a GOOD book/magazine to
maintain your sanity

2) trusty torchlight to read in the dark
3) doing it ol' school -> a DISCMAN!

4) a whacky travel buddy who doesn't complain,
rather, makes the most of his surrounding and
have heaps of FUN!

15hours later........

Pre-Thai (29th Sept 08):

Nikki crossing the borders looking like a retard

Yen is all smiles with a very obliging 'Prat-Pong'* officer
*welcome to our first 'SuzYenNik' term - no prizes for guessing the origin of 'Prat-pong'*

Prat-pong #2 who came out of his lil box to take this picture
after stamping my passport

We are family! we're Daddy,Su Yen, and SuLi!

Dad and Kikz waiting for the connecting train to HadYai

HadYai baby! After 15hours okaaaaay..
Thank God we didn't get sick of each other by
the time we arrived in Thailand

You DON'T want to mess with him

Up the Tuk-tuk

2 random 'prat-pongs'

Starved by the time arrived Thailand
suz: pork never NEVER tasted so good..urrmm,
correction, pork never tasted so good after KK trip..

4 hours in a cramped van from HadYai to Krabi Town and another
2 more from Krabi to ze beautiful island of Ko Lanta. BOY, was
it a BUMPY ride!

Eeugghh....

Not too wild over the ride too, I see..
BUT eventually,

....sleep came and the bumpy ride was long forgotten

On the ferry from Krabi to Saladan Pier (Ko Lanta)

And we met... a Swede - Lars, who was very friendly.
That's us on the ferry to Ko Lanta Noi, an uninhibited island.
From Lanta Noi, we drive to the other pier and get on another ferry
that will take us to Ko Lanta Yai (where we're supposed to be)

Crossing Krabi Town over to Lanta Noi
Once we arrived Saladan Pier (Ko Lanta Yai, which I will now say Ko Lanta)
the driver dropped all passagers at their respective hotels/chalets

First stop... US! TWIN BAY!
sorry, but we didn't take any pictures of Twin Bay upon arrival.. =/

It was evening and dark when we arrived our chalet. No one greeted
us *sob* as it was already after working hours. After 15 minutes, a very sweet
and petite Thai lady came and saw us to our room. See Tee very
kindly explained that she upgraded our room from a Family Room to
Family Exec Room since there were 4 ppl in the room for free, and
gave us a room facing the sea. We soon learned that we would be
the only family living in Twin Bay for the next 4 days!
TALK ABOUT PRIVATE BEACH okay....
It was a real pretty room... =) Definitely worth the money we paid

Our little friend who greeted us at the balcony

Dinner at a seafood restaurant in Saladan Town
*real good food!*

Chilling at the balcony

Day 1 on Island (30th Sept 08): Our first day on the Island, where the adventures begin

About 6 in the morning.. *winks* bright lerr...

Our chalet is right at the end =)
Nice, quiet place..
undisturbed..

Balcony

Dad and Yen's side of the room

Suz , Nikki and Levi's (who joined us later that week)

Come morning, the room was in a mess =D

American breakfast for 1 WHOLE WEEK!
and I had PINEAPPLES for a whole week..
yummy, so schweeeet and juicy lo..
I left the watermelons and 'nanas to the rest to makan..

Making plans for the week

OUR beach...!!
there are 8 beaches in total along the Island. Our's the first,
Kaw Kwang Beach.
this was what we saw every morning before we
started our day, and what we saw every night before
we slept *smiles*

Scenery from the balcony (this is one of many that will be posted up)

Yen and Dad spent the 1st day exploring town. They did quite a bit of walking, I must say, and took a buncha pictures...

Yen on a tuk-tuk

Posers... tsk tsk *grin*

Ice-shaver (ABC machine) - quite chun, don cha think?

Cooling down with some ABC

Saladan Town, 5mins drive away from our chalet

Kaw Kwang Beach

Daddy's scho cute... *meltz*

Take nothing but memories,
leave nothing but footprints..

They actually walked to the other beach, Pra Aeng
Pra Aeng is right next to Kaw Kwang..
but tis quite a long walk =)
*sorry, no pictures...hantam yen, not me*
While Yen and Dad were enjoying their walk,

Nikki, the 'water boy' *pun intended* spent his in the waters...
Me? It was so hot I figured I could explore the town another day,
so I joined 'water boy', which brought a lot of laughs from him and
embarrassed looks from me coz I didn't dare swim deeper.
(feet MUST touch the floor)

waves were much bigger later in the afternoon..
I had fun jumping the waves =P
and it was the only day we had big waves...
sea was calm for the next 1 week we were there...
I got burned the first day after spending approx 4 hours
in the water in the scorching hot afternoon sun
Fun tho' eh, Kikz

Nikki rented a bike for a day for RM30 to check out
the town

See? only 1 day in the sun, and both blend in with the locals and
qualified as Prat Pongs =D

Travel agent
(Yen and Nikki making plans for an island trip)

That night, 4 of us got on the bike and headed north towards town for dinner...
We had dinner at the Shims...
(ok, I don't know what's the name of the restaurant, but we called it the Shims...
the 2 'shes' who took our orders were actually 'hims'.. The island was crawling with SHIMS ok..
then again, it's Thailand.. so don't blame us for naming the restaurant SHIMS)

Sisters at the Shims..

Lemon shake

Tom Yum soup...
tastes damn kao man..
reallllllll sour and spicy..
just the way I like it..
Food at the Shims were good! 3 1/2 stars over 5

That night, we lepaked out in the balcony..
had some drinks and was lulled to the sound of the waves..
our first day on the island was a rather relaxed one..
nothing too tiring...nothing too adventureous...

Day 2 on Island to be continued.......
